DAY TOUR TO WICKLOW “THE GARDEN OF IRELAND”
Saturday 18th April
This is a day trip to beautiful Co Wicklow known as “The Garden of Ireland”
Wicklow boasts some of the finest scenery in Ireland with its Mountains, Lakes and some stately houses from our distant past. The first verse of the Song “My Lovely Wicklow” penned by John Candy of Candy Tours perhaps sums up the story of Wicklow.
“There are thirty two counties in Ireland each with its own claim to fame
But there’s one that stands out from all of the rest, if you listen I’ll tell you its name
It’s the beautiful County of Wicklow with its Lakes and its Valley’s so grand
So I’m sure you’ll agree there’s no place to compare to the garden of all Ireland”.
Our first stop today will be Arboretum Garden Centre in Kilquade Co Wicklow.
Various refreshments may be had in Rachel’s Garden Café after which time will be allowed to browse this wonderful Centre. After leaving Arboretum we will travel to Wicklow Town to visit and explore Wicklow’s famous Gaol formerly a prison and now a museum. There will be a guided tour of the gaol offering us a glimpse of life in Irish prisons of the past, a most exciting tour. After leaving Wicklow we will return to Carlow for Dinner in The Talbot Hotel and return to our original pickup points.
