Monday 11th to Thursday 14th September – Cavan, Fermanagh, Tyrone
This is a four day tour to this beautiful area of Northern Ireland where we will visit Cavan Town, Ballyjamesduff made famous by Percy French with the wonderful ballad “Come back Paddy Reilly to Ballyjamesduff”.
We will also visit Kingscourt or (Dún an Rí) Forest Park. This place will surly bring back memories of that great song “Donnaree” written by local woman Eilis (Farrelly) Boland in 1951 and made famous all over the world by Ruby Murray and Vera Lynn.
“And when you find the wishing well
Beyond the chestnut tree
In a shady nook by a winding brook
Will you make this wish for me”
The wishing well, the chestnut tree and the winding brook are still there to be viewed today and we will ensure that ample time is given to stroll through the leafy glade on the day of our visit.
We will visit Enniskillen and take a boat trip on beautiful Lough Erne for those who wish to view Fermanagh from the lake. Lough Erne makes up one third of County Fermanagh so an exciting time is ensured on our tour to this lovely area of Northern Ireland.
We will also visit Omagh in County Tyrone steeped in history from our troubled past. We will visit the Ulster American Folk Park. This is a must see Folk Park when visiting County Tyrone and it tells the story of the remarkable contribution generations of Scots Irish made to American Frontier history.
We will be staying in Cavan Crystal Hotel in Cavan
